About this work

Description

Including 'The Garden Herald', 'The Lake Crystal Union', 'The Daily Graphic' re Beecher-Tilton case; reports of events in Garden City; report of 1874 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition

Includes previously indivudally catalogued advertisement WA/HSW/PE/A.28/1, Advertisement for S.C Wellcome & Co, in the 'Garden City Herald', 1868, which had the following interpretation note: "S.C. Wellcome & Co was the drugstore in Garden City, Minnesota, owned by Wellcome's father and uncle. It has long been recognised that this drugstore was where Henry Wellcome had his first experience as an over-the-counter drug salesman, but this striking advertisement from the Garden City Herald - where the words in bold are but a hook to lure in the reader - suggests he learnt a thing or two about publicity there as well." See M0007875.
