About this work
Description
An artwork by Tuberculosis Patient 1 - "John" which shows a landscape with a smoking chimney. The chimney and buildings nearby are in pink whilst the landscape behind has multiple horizons and layers of paint. They sky seems overcast and there is a small red sun in the top left of the painting.
This artwork was numbered '4' in Rita Simon's sequence.
The artwork is reproduced in The Symbolism of Style Plate 7.4. Discussed in detail by Rita Simon on pages 121-122.
The title has been taken from the caption used in The Symbolism of Style.
Rita Simon classified this artwork as Massive Transition.
