Description

Photograph of items from the Hildburgh Collection of Austrian and Bavarian Amulets acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum (Hildburgh Collection no. 3873, 3874, 3875, 3876, 3877 and 3878). Zahnfeige for infants when teething; a double cross worn during labour; a heart-shaped pendant made from a piece of fossil madrepore coral worn for protection against fevers; a stone mounted in silver to promote childbirth; rock crystal mounted as a pendant; and two "krebsaugen" pendants.
