About this work

Description

Film created by Thalidomide UK comprising images, text and silent films with backing music. The following statement is written on back of the DVD sleeve: "We recognise that the drug Thalidomide may prolong life for people who suffer from illnesses such as myeloma and other life threatening diseases however it is not a cure. We are against the use of Thalidomide in treating leprosy, because this disease usually occurs in developing countries, where it is unregulated and a considerable amount of babies are still being born with severe deformities. We do not want the drug banned as long as it can be controlled and that groups such as Thalidomide UK is a part of the monitoring procedure. Warning. Severe, life-threatening human birth defects. If Thalidomide is taken during pregnancy, it can cause severe birth defects or death to an unborn baby."
