Description

Three statues of St Mamertus (also St Mamert) (d. c.475) shown as a monk. He was invoked against pestilence and earthquakes, colicand abdominal pains. One of the six healing saints from Notre Dame du Haut, Moncontour, Brittany. Two statues were purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1928 and accessioned in 1937 and 1938 (accession numbers R2414/1937 and R592/1938). The third was purchased in 1934 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R609/1938). They are not held by Wellcome Collection.
