This work is untitled: the title has been supplied by the cataloguer.
The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "Sailors with different physionomies that contrast with the name of their ship, e.g. a skinny sailor is from H.M.S. Hercules and the youngest sailor is from H.M.S. Venerable. A big fat sailor comes from "H.M.S. Fairy". The card illustrates the fact that the word 'fairy' meaning homosexual was current in the UK in the 1920s. Sailors have long been connected in the public perception with sexual licence and homosexuality".
