Photograph of the inscription on an amputation saw, part of a set used by a naval surgeon in the late 18th century. The inscription reads "Thomas Major Surgeon Royal Navy 1793". The set was presented to the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1935 and given accession number A135081. Related images: M0019157
