Description

Photograph of a stone tjurunga, or churinga, an object considered to be of religious significance by Aboriginal people from Central Australia. It was purchased at auction by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1934 and accessioned in 1936 (accession number R5307/1936). It was removed from the Musuem in 1966.
