The collection comprises published works by William Prout or relating to him; it also includes a set of the Bridgewater Treatises.

At Wellcome Collection: Manuscripts by Prout are held as MSS.4011-4019. Papers of Peter Mark Roget are held as MS.7543 and isolated letters by him also occur as MS.7108/11, MS.7402/5 and MS.7847/31. Various editions of the Bridgewater treatises are held in the Library's collection of printed books.

Ownership note

The Bridgewater Treatises represented in this collection were the result of a bequest of £8000 to the Royal Society by the Earl of Bridgewater, to finance the publication of a work or works "on the power, wisdom, and goodness, of God, as manifested in the creation". Eight were completed.
