Description

Wooden statue of Mary Magdalene in sackcloth. Invoked against plague, ulcers and children slow to walk. The item was purchased by Sir Henry Wellcome in Spain in 1907 and given to the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum where it was accessioned in 1955 (accession number R32/1955). It is not held by Wellcome Collection.

Wooden statue of Saint Sebastian (c.256-288) tied to a tree and pierced with arrows. Invoked against plague and epidemics. The item was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1934 and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R2417/1937). It is not held by Wellcome Collection.
