About this work
Description
Two artworks by Tuberculosis Patient 1 - "John" which show, on the recto, a green landscape with pink and brown hills set back from a wide foreground of green grass. On the verso is a charcoal sketch of a large building, possibly a church.
This artwork was numbered '8' in Rita Simon's sequence.
The artwork is reproduced in The Symbolism of Style Plate 8.1 and discussed in detail by Rita Simon on pages 134-135.
The title has been taken from the caption used in The Symbolism of Style.
Rita Simon classified this artwork as Almost Transitional on the verso of the artwork and as Archaic Massive in The Symbolism of Style.
