![2 16,855.—A.D. 1902. Ihuifiseii's Process for Produdiuf Medicinal Preparations of Haeniof/lobin. not only nj)on its ott'ect but also largely upon llic particular fla\oui u lu i iaeilitates its being* taken. Ill this ])rocess, diluted as well as concentrated solutions ot' liaenioglobiii nitU be employed. , . „ Idle process may also be carried out so that the excess carbonic acid is allowed ^ to evaporate or any excess of carbonic acid may be allowed to remain in the preparation. Idle combination of the carbonic acid with the haemoglobin may be etfected b\ adding carbonates or bicarbonates to the mixture and then setting the carbonic acid free by adding a suitable acid. In connection herevrith a (‘ertain ])ortioii of the carbonate may in certain cases be left undecomposed. Having now particularly described and ascertained ihe nature of my said invention, and in what manner the same is to bo performed, I declare that what I claim is: — 1. Process for producing medicinal pre})arations of haemoglobin, according to lo which solutions of haemoglobin of any kind, in a ])ure or mixed state, are impregnated with carbonic acid with or without an excess of carbonic acid. 2. A form of the process indicated in Claim 1, according to w'hich carbonates or bicarbonates am added to the haemoglobin solutions and decomposed by a suitable acid. 20 d. A form of the process claimed in Claims 1 and 2, according to which the preparation impregnated with carbonic acid receives an addition of some sub¬ stances such as a spirituous extract of vanilla for altering the taste thereof and preserving it, so that a preparation may be obtained which, when mixed with milk, resembles chocolate in appearance and taste. 2o Hated this 29th dav of Julv, 1902.
