Description
Ovid, Metamorphoses VIII, 738-878. Lower right, Erysichthon cuts down a tree on which hang tablets dedicated to Ceres (Demeter). Above, Ceres hands over to Hunger a chariot drawn by dragons. Upper right, Hunger visits Erysichthon to make him permanently hungry
