Description

Wooden marionnete painted brown, yellow and black, representing a mother and child created and used by the Ibibio people of southeastern Nigeria. The mother's lower jaw is articulated, as are the limbs of both the mother and child. The item was purchased at auction by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1919 and accessioned in 1936 (accession number R10702/1936). It is not held by Wellcome Collection.
