About this work

Description

These papers were received by the Contemporary Medical Archives Centre from David Flint of ALRA in January 1984. They consist largely of papers accumulated by Diane Munday during her period as an officer of the Association, 1963-1974, and subsequently by Mr Flint, and both fill gaps in and supplement the papers in sections A and B of the list of the papers of the Abortion Law Reform Association received from the Institute of Medical Sociology, Aberdeen. The papers cover the period from 1963 up to the passage of David Steel's Abortion Act, 1967, and the years after the passage of the Act when ALRA was involved in ensuring that the Act was properly implemented and in fighting attempts to restrict its scope by Parliamentary action. Duplicate items have been weeded, also several bundles of ephemeral financial items: cancelled cheques, vouchers, orders and invoices, etc.
