On the front, a line drawing of a bearded man wearing spectacles, painting while smoking a cigarette. On the reverse, various studies of art supplies, chairs and easels and a watercolour painted close up of the bearded man. Hospital ward, creator's name and date of creation inscribed on the front, probably by Edward Adamson.
