Description
Photograph of two pyxis for holding ointment. One is black glaze on red ware with no handles and dates from 5th-4th century B.C Greece. It was previously part of the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum but is not held by Wellcome Collection. The other is black glaze with two handles and dates from 4th-2nd century B.C. Campanion, south Italy. It was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum at an unknown point and accessioned in 1936 (accession number R1358/1936). It is now held by the Science Musuem (object number A11423)
