Description

Three wooden statues. The first is of St James of Compostella as a pilgrim. The item was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1934 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R462/1938). The second is of St Radegund (c.520-587). Invoked against leprosy, ulcers and fevers in children and one of the patron saints of Jesus College, Cambridge as well as several churches in England and France. The item was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1928 and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R4773/1937). The third is of St Nicholas of Bari (270-343) Bishop of Myra, patron of children and invoked against conjugal sterility and rheumatism. The item was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1928 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R436/1938). None of the statues are held by Wellcome Collection.
