  • RAMC/436/1: 23 letters, July 1854-May 1855, from Captain William Markham of 2nd Battalion the Rifle Brigade to his friends and family, describing the outbreak of cholera among the troops, the Battles of Alma and Balaclava, and the siege of Sebastopol, including the poor conditions in which the soldiers had to live. 1854-1855
  • RAMC/436/2: Letter, Jan 1855, from "C.H.B.", a sister at the Barrack Hospital, Scutari, describing the treatment of thousands of soldiers suffering from dysentery and exposure. 1855
  • RAMC/436/3: Letter, Jan 1855, from Private G. Winterbourn in the camp before Sebastopol, describing the Battles of Balaklava and Inkerman, and the inadequate supplies and shelter in camp. 1855
