Description
Black and white reproduction of botanical specimens of cinchona peruviana sent by José Celestino Mútis (1732-1808) to Carl Linnaeus (1707–1778), dated September 1764, with additional page folded over to the right. The specimen was possibly reproduced as part of the facsimiles exhibited in Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930 hosted by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930. The facsimile is possibly listed as exhibit no. 876[B] in the souvenir catalogue. The original specimen is held by The Linnean Society of London. Related images: M0001367
