Description

Photograph of two bronze statues from Yoruba-Bini Country, West Africa. One is of a kneeling female figure holding a vessel or casket with gross bilateral enlargement of the neck. It was purchased at auction by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1928 and accessioned in 1936 (accession number R5371/1936). The other is of a seated man holding a knife in an advanced degree of elephantiasis of the scrotum. It was purchased at auction by the Museum in 1934 and accessioned in 1936 (accession number R5372/1936)
