Photograph of a letter dated 22 January 1885 announcing that Lister has been awarded the Order of Merit, from the General-Ordens-Kommission, Berlin. It is one of a number of photographs accumulated by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum as part of its exhibition held in 1927 to celebrate the centenary of Lister, in conjunction with The Royal Society, The British Universities Hospitals and Medical and Surgical Colleges.
