Description
Heatley's correspondence with William H Helfand, who was co-authoring a paper on the contributions of industry to the early developments of penicillin, for a symposium to be held in Honolulu organized by the American Chemical Society on the history of antibiotics. Comprising arrangements for meetings and discussion of Heatley's experiences in the development of penicillin. With initial letter from H Boyd Woodruff, introducing Helfand to Heatley. (Helfand later forwarded Cowen's review of Macfarlane's biography of Florey which led to Heatley's correspondence with Cowen).
Accompanied by draft typescript sent to Heatley by Helfand with letter of 16th May 1979: 'Wartime industrial development of penicillin in the United States' W H Helfand, H B Woodruff, K M H Coleman and D L Cowen, dated 14 May 1979.
