Description

Two photographs of a Bavarian carved wooden male figure used as an apothecary's sign, c.1750. On one side the figure is naked with a girdle of leaves or feathers. The other side is an anatomical figure, half muscle, half skeleton. The photographs were sent to the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum by a Dr. Luz with a view to selling them.
