Description

Impressions from four seals. The first is Assyrian and made of haematite incised with a conventional design of geometric shapes. It was purchased at auction by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930 and accessioned in 1938 (R2378/1938). The next seal is incised with images of hooded priests holding up sacrificed animals. It was acquired by the Museum at an unknown point and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R2383/1938). The next seal is incised with images of the Sumerian goddess Astarte with worshippers. acquired by the Museum at an unknown point and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R2382/1938) The final seal is incised with a conventional design. acquired by the Museum at an unknown point and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R2386/1938).
