Biographical note

When the museum re-opened after WWII, C J Hackett took on the position of Director. An Australian by birth, he trained in England, and after serving in the RAF during WWII transformed the Medical Museum into a postgraduate teaching museum. His own area of research was in the eradication of yaws. He was in post until 1954, when he left to take up a post at the World Health Organisation
