Description

Photograph of five 19th century stethoscopes. From left to right, the second is from the mid 19th century, the third is from 1872, the fourth is possibly Italian and the fifth is from the mid 19th century. They were acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1936, accession numbers (left to right): R2417/1936, R2557/1936, R2259/1936, R2414/1936 and R2260/1936. They are now held by the Science Museum (object numbers A135435, A129855, A625011, A135433 and A625005).
