Biographical note

Maternity Alliance (1980–2005) was a UK national charity and campaigning organization that worked to improve the rights, benefits, services, and healthcare available to pregnant women, new parents, and their families. It was particularly concerned with the experiences of low-income and disadvantaged families. It aimed to promote the interests of parents and babies and act as an independant forum for discussion amongst all those with an interest in policies for maternity and in the services offered before conception and during pregnancy, childbirth and the first year of life.
