Biographical note
The Fawcett Society is the UK's leading membership charity campaigning for women's rights and gender equality. Named after the suffragist Millicent Fawcett (1847–1929), the organisation traces its origins to the women's suffrage movement of the late nineteenth century and was formally renamed the Fawcett Society in 1953 in her honour.
