Description

Three statues, one of the Virgin Mary represented as trampling upon a heretic, one of Our Lady of Treguron breastfeeding a child, one of a series of Breton statues and invoked by local pregnant women, and one of Our Lady of Deliverance holding an infant, invoked by expectant mothers for a safe delivery. The first statue was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and given accession number A104435, the second was purchased by the Museum in 1934 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R441/1938) and the third was purchased by the Museum in 1928 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R434/1938). None of the statues are held by Wellcome Collection.
