Ben Fraser, Head of Finance at Newham University Hospital, filmed in artist's studio in October 2020.
Ben Fraser's job was to ensure that the hospital operates effectively and uses its resources efficiently. During the Covid period, this meant making sure that frontline staff had everything they needed to do their jobs. The team was counting the cost as opposed to controlling it. The spending was transparent.
In his interview, Ben Fraser talks about how providing the best possible care for the community felt like Newham's mission during Covid. With the support of Barts and access to a large procurement service, the hospital was able to secure the resources it needed to meet the challenges of the pandemic.
