Description

Wooden statue of Saint Paul, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. Invoked by deaf people and against spasms and serpent bites, all relating to miracles during his life. The item was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R614/1938). It is not held by Wellcome Collection.

Wooden statue of a saint, probably Saint John the Evangelist. Invoked against epilepsy, poison and diseases of the feet. The item was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in the early 1930s and given accession number A115240. It is not held by Wellcome Collection.

Wooden statue of St Barbara. Invoked against sudden death and by preganant women that their children may have curly hair. Patron saint of architects and artillerymen. The item was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1955 (accession number R34/1955). It is not held by Wellcome Collection.
