Biographical note
Professor Blanchard obtained his M.D. in Paris in 1880, and was elected Member of the Académie de Médecine in 1894. He was the pioneer in the study of Parasitology in France, and 1885-1889 published his Traité de Zoologie médicale which became a standard work. He was the founder of the Société zoologique de France (1876) and of the Société d'Histoire de la Médecine in 1902.
