The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "A sergeant in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in an embrace with a man dressed in a hastily improvised drag consisting of a working girl's overall and Red Cross cap. The drop against which they are posed appears to be very well painted. An unidentified World War I concert party."
