Description
The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "The Lithuanian dancer Alexis Rassine ( 1919-1992), by the gay photographer Gordon Anthony (1902-1989). Rassine was the life partner of the British writer John Lehmann. The portrait indicates the extent to which stage and theatre make-up reflects contemporary fashion. Although Rassine is dressed here in period costume, the make-up is of the 1940s".
