    of the ward accommodation—moderate in size—as in view of the frequent developments and improvements which are taking place in the planning and construction of hospital accommodation, we must be careful to arrange our plans so that they will prove suitable for as long a period as possible, bearing in mind the ever changing conditions which are going on in these days of progress. The latest A.R.P. Memoranda issued by the Ministry of Health also indicate that due regard will have to be paid to methods of safety against attack to be adopted in existing Hospital buildings and also when planning new hospitals and extensions. Any extension of our Hospital naturally brings up the important question of financing such a Scheme as that contemplated. This year there has been a slight —almost microscopic—increase in the amount received from our Annual Subscribers, for which we are most grateful, but I hope that as soon as the public learn of our intention to extend, they will feel a real respon¬ sibility towards their local Hospital and enrol them¬ selves as Subscribers. All residents in our district ought to take a pride in the welfare of our Hospital and support it financially.
