Description

Two photographs on one negative: one is of a statue purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1931 and accessioned in 1935 (accession number R182/1935). The other is of a headless statue of Asclepius. Headless statues of this type were made so that the portrait head of a living person might be superimposed. It was purchased by the Museum in 1928 and accessioned in 1936 (accession number R1482/1936). Neither statue is held by Wellcome Collection.
