About this work

Description

Diplomas of honorary membership. The diplomas were issued to recipients likely to make a financial contribution to the Institution. They are printed, with the name of the recipient and the date added in manuscript. The design by James George Oben shows the terrestrial globe shrouded in clouds, through which the sun is breaking. The sunlight frames what appears to be a winged vase, seemingly representing vaccination coming to the aid of the world.
