Biographical note

Project Summary:MBP2' is a research project into a human protein being carried out by secondary school students. The aim is to transform the human gene for myelin basic protein into the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and look for phosphorylation events. The project allows sixth form students to practice a range of molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques and apply them to research into a protein implicated in the development of MS. The project also runs a series of workshops on DNA for students in neighbouring schools and will try to encourage their teachers to deliver the workshop themselves.
