Description
Reproduction of a photograph of a rain shrine constructed from four screens surrounding rain charms, known as Doiom. Reproduced as plate VIII in Haddon, Alfred C: Reports of the Cambridge anthropological expedition to Torres Straits. Volume VI. Sociology, Magic and Religion of the Eastern Islanders, Cambridge: University Press, 1908. A photograph of the book plate was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1938 (accession number PHO 10943).
