Description
Black and white reproduction of an illustration depicting Sushruta, or Susruta, an ancient Indian physician sitting cross-legged with an Indian potentate (rular or monarch) possibly discussing his theory of malarial infection, which he ascribed to bites by mosquites. The original illustration was exhibited by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in their exhibition Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930 in 1930, and is listed as exhibit no. 886 in the souvenir catalogue.
