Description

Botanical illustration of Cinchona succirubra drawn after specimens from Mac Ivor [or McIvor] in 1875 in Ootacamund [Ooty] in India. The original diagram was lent by Professor A. Tschirch (of the Pharmaceutical Institute of the University of Berne) for Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930, an exhibition hosted by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930. The specimen is possibly listed as exhibit no. 457 in the souvenir catalogue. The item is not held by Wellcome Collection.
