Photograph of a letter dated 1 July 1883 announcing Lister's election as an Honorary Member of Die Physikalisch-Medizinische Societat zu Erlangen [The Physical-Medical Society in Erlangen]. It is one of a number of photographs accumulated by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum as part of its exhibition held in 1927 to celebrate the centenary of Lister, in conjunction with The Royal Society, The British Universities Hospitals and Medical and Surgical Colleges.
