About this work

Description

An artwork by Tuberculosis Patient 1 - "John" which shows two figures in hats and robes, one smoking a pipe, with orange hills and a blue sky behind. There is a basket of fire on the ground behind one of the figures.

This artwork was numbered '3' in Rita Simon's sequence.

The artwork is reproduced in The Symbolism of Style Plate 7.3 and is discussed in detail by Rita Simon on pages 119-121.

The title has been taken from the caption used in The Symbolism of Style.

Rita Simon classified this artwork as Archaic Massive.
