Description
These papers comprise the manuscript collection of F[rederick] Bacon Frank (1827-1911). They include a medieval medical miscellany (MS.550), material by or relating to the 18th century Yorkshire physician Nathaniel Johnston (MSS.3083-3086 and 6080), and some Bacon family administrative documents (MS.6079). One item relating to Nathaniel Johnston that did not form part of the Bacon Frank collection has been catalogued with it for convenience (MS.3086).

Purchased at Sotheby's 11/8/1942, Lot 18 (part) apart from MS.3086 which was purchased 1930 at the Hornby Castle Library Sale.

With the exception of MS.3086, these MSS. formed part of the F[rederick] Bacon Frank [1827-1911] MSS., described in the Appendix to the Sixth Report of the Royal Commission on Historical Manuscripts, 1877, by A[lfred] J[ohn] Horwood [1821-1881], C. 1745, pp. 448-465.
