Description

Photograph of three dental instruments. At the top is a19th century mouth dilator. Next is a 16th or 17th century folding knife with handle forming cross-action forceps. At the bottom is an 18th century early form of dental key. All three were previously part of the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum, though no particulars are known about the first two. The dental key was purchased by the Museum in 1930 and accessioned in 1941 (accession number R399/1941). None of the items are held by Wellcome Collection.
