About this work

Description

Glass 4 1/2” x 6 1/2” (12cm x 16cm) slides (‘half plates’) of images relating to the research conducted in the Medical Research Council (MRC) Biophysics Research Unit, King’s College London (from 1964, the Department of Biophysics). Images include: illustrations prepared for scientific journal articles and lectures by Unit staff; detailed images of equipment used, 1953-1954, including x-ray cameras, other cameras, reflecting microscopes and electron microscopes; views of the Biophysics and Physics laboratories and workshop, 1952 and 1954; the Unit’s IBM 650 computer, 1956; images from a 1958 television broadcast on DNA; the new Biophysics premises, Drury Lane, 1964.

Slides are individually numbered in a chronological sequence. Original numbers have been maintained which has resulted in some gaps in the sequence and some non-standard numbering.

See KDBP/2/7 for the index to the slides.
