Reproduction of a photograph of a Zande person who is missing the upper lip and upper part of the ear. The photograph is reproduced in the Fourth report of the Wellcome Tropical Research Laboratories at the Gordon Memorial College, Khartoum, volume B, London: 1911. A photograph of the image was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1938 (accession number PHO 10880).
