Description

Photograph of two Chinese opium pipes. One is a hornstem pipe with plaited mouthpiece, with a copper bowl decorated with metal and inset stones. The other is cane stem pipe with ivory mouth piece. They were purchased at auction by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1925 and accessioned in 1926 (accession numbers R16824 and R16821). They are not held by Wellcome Collection.
