Description
Three statues, one of St Francis of Assisi (c.1181-1226) Italian friar and preacher invoked against headaches and plauge, one of St Philip Neri (1515-1595) known as the Second Apostle of Rome and one of St Yves, patron saint of lawyers and the poor, invoked for success in business. The statue of St Francis was purchased in Seville by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R4846/1937). The statue of St Philip was purchased by the Museum in 1928 and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R4806/1937) and the statue of St Yves was acquired by the Museum and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R163/1938). None of the statues are held by Wellcome Collection.
